OCTOBER 15 – The 2017 Global Handwashing Day theme is «Our hands, our future!». In Russia this holiday is not so popular yet that’s why for the Russian National Committee of OMEP has been a complex task – is to highlight children and their parents the importance of this problem and need for such a hygienic procedure as washing hands with soap that prevents infections and saves lives.

The Global Handwashing Day in 2017 fell on a day of rest so that the Russian National Committee of OMEP had organized a number of fascinating activities for children in preschool organizations in Russia on the eve of holiday – October 13!

7 Russian preschool organizations took part in these events. Each kindergarten has organized a unique thematic day for the children. In that day all the children with good fairy tale creatures has helped to fight with evil creatures – microbus, also unraveled a riddles about hygiene and cleanliness, have participated contests, relay races and quizzes.

Our pedagogues were particularly focused on the creative development of children: a series of fine artworks devoted to the Global handwashing day on which children have represented the main symbols of a holiday has been created: water, soap and hand.

Especially for the holiday has been organized the theatrical performance, children of the senior group have shown for younger children the representations famous tales “Moydodyr” (roughly translated as “Wash’em’clean”)  by the famous Russian writer K.I. Chukovsky.

No child has left without a present in that day! Everyone got a gift from our event partner TM “UMKA”. It`s a proven producer of baby cosmetic which is suitable for baby care from the first days of life.

All children received a set of an instruction about washing hands, coloring book and children soap.

Thanks to the pedagogues all the parents had been alerted about the value of this holiday in advance. In all kindergartens had installed a special information stands for parents where they could find out more about history of a holiday and its importance.

And in order not to forget to celebrate the  Global Handwashing Day on October 15 the OMEP Committee had organized a virtual flashmob in social networks Facebook and Instagram. Participants of flashmob just had to post the photo of their child when washing  hands process. October 16 fleshmob organizer have chosen the winner by random number generator who won the prize – annual stocks of baby soap.
